he Sugar Mill pays homage to Catherine’s time living in the West Indies. Designed as a Caribbean cottage on stilts, it’s dedicated to the eponymous boutique hotel, on Tortola.

Located to take full advantage of an elevated position at the edge of the forest, this single story wooden structure offers a ‘one-level’ luxury cabin-like experience, inviting relaxation and rejuvenation. 

The Sugar Mill has many sides –  that’s its magic! 

On the south side, the open sides and covered veranda runs its entire length inviting you to sit and just be with nature. Gaze out over fig trees to the near horizon and the Bakony hills beyond.

On the inside, the spacious accommodation divides naturally into two ‘rooms’, under a shared roof, offering privacy and comfort. The bedroom – designed with couples in mind – has shiplapped walls, floor to ceiling windows and is decorated in soothing blues and whites to create a breezy atmosphere and an unashamedly romantic ambiance. 

Take two steps from the bedroom across the deck and enter the second ‘room’ to find a simple well-equipped kitchen, including a fridge, microwave, and induction hob. There’s a small dining table in front of the floor to ceiling windows and access to a WC.

Outside, spend long barefoot days on the veranda, talking, eating and snoozing. The deck between the two ‘rooms’ leads off to an outdoor bathroom – rain shower and wash hand basin – sheltered and next to the woods. On the far side of the veranda is a secluded garden with a small BBQ grill, and a hammock under the trees to drift off to birdsong. 

Please not the cottage is not ideal for children under 8 years, babies or toddlers.
